For nearly two decades, we have been on a passionate mission to foster a healthier community. It all started back in 1997, when a group of community champions came together to establish the Nose Creek Sports and Recreation Association. Their vision was clear—to enhance North Central Calgary with opportunities for recreation and meaningful community connections.
Fast forward to September 2004, and their dedication resulted in the opening of Cardel Place, a welcoming hub for the entire community. Over the next ten years, the community around us grew and evolved.
In 2015, we took a significant step by transforming into a charity and adopting our present name, Vivo for Healthier Generations. This change wasn’t just about a name; it was about embracing a mission. Vivo, meaning ‘to live,’ encapsulates our commitment to sparking positive, enduring change across generations.
In response to the dynamic growth of our community and its needs, in 2020 we launched our All In Campaign to fund expansion of our facility. The response was nothing short of extraordinary—our community rallied together, contributing over $62 million to propel Vivo into a more inclusive, accessible, and sustainable future.
Today, our priority is to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, ability, income or background, has access to spaces and programs for healthy living at Vivo. Because, at the heart of it all, we believe in creating a thriving community where everyone can pursue their personal version of healthy.
