New Year, New (or Renewed) Habits! 

Happy New Year – whether you are new to Vivo or a long-time member – we are so happy you are here. The New Year is often a time of resetting, renewing, and reenergizing and while we believe in sustainable changes, we love the energy of the New Year. Whether you celebrate the New Year on January 1st or with the lunar New Year on January 29th – Happy New Year to you! 

At Vivo, there are so many ways for you to reset, renew, and revive your life this New Year. Here are five ways you can ring in the New Year with Vivo: 

1. Become a Vivo Member 

Jump into January and reset your fitness habits and lifestyle by renewing or signing up for a Vivo Membership! Your Vivo Membership is just the ticket you need to access a wide variety of Drop-In Fitness Classes, top-tier amenities, and everyday wellness activities. From Member perks like discounts on registered programs, to nearly unlimited access to the Vivo Centre – your Vivo Membership will set the tone for a revitalized New Year in 2025. 

Vivo is a charity – your membership means more than just access to a fitness center; it means being a part of something bigger. Your membership fees go directly back into the community through subsidies for those who otherwise couldn’t access Vivo, programs and services, research and innovation for healthy living, and the maintenance of the Vivo Centre. And, as a New Year bonus we are waiving the Vivo Fee ($75 value) for you! Sign up before the end of January to save.

2. Revive your Life – join the Fitness Challenge 

Join us for the exhilarating Vivo Revive Challenge, a 12-week journey to transform your health and well-being. As we step into the new year, the Revive Challenge goes beyond the confines of typical 2025 resolutions. 

What’s Included: 

  • 12 Weeks of Personal Training (With options for: One on One, Groups of 2 or 3, or Groups of 4) 
  • 2 Additional Self-Directed Workouts per Week, Prescribed by Your Trainer 
  • Nutrition Advice Based on Canada Food Guide Recommendations 
  • Check-ins for Progress Tracking (Start, Mid-Challenge, and Final) 

Start Date: Week of January 5-11
End Date: Week of March 23-29

3. Sign up for a Registered Programs, Summer Camps and Preschool!  

From swimming and skating to boxing and courses to become a lifeguard – Vivo has many Registered Programs to choose from that fit your level and lifestyle! Maybe your little ones are ready to get their toes wet in swimming lessons or perhaps you want to try your hand at rock climbing – peruse Vivo’s Registered Programs as there is truly a program for everyone. Don’t forget, Vivo Members always save on Registered Programs and have early-access for registration. 

While Winter Registration is ongoing, Spring and Summer Registration is upon us! Be sure to mark your calendar:

Ready for Summer Camps? Registration begins on the Spring and Summer Registration Dryland dates noted above! With camps running all summer long on a weekly basis, there is a play-packed experience and incredible value for your children every single week at Vivo Summer Camps.  Choose from Sports Camp, STEM or Vivo Variety – or try them all! Camps are offered for children ages 3-12 and *most* run Monday to Friday each week. Every camper will experience adventure and play at Vivo in the indoor park, swimming pool, climbing wall, gymnasiums, and outside!   

Don’t forget – Vivo’s Preschool Registration begins on the Spring and Summer Registration Dryland dates noted above! Join us in the new year for our open houses to learn more about our curriculum and what your child will experience during preschool at Vivo. 4. Step Out into Community – Visit the Vivo Centre 

Never been to Vivo? That’s okay! Now is the time to discover this gem nestled in the heart of north-central Calgary. The Vivo Centre has a first-of-its-kind Indoor Park – the perfect place to experience nature, sunlight, and community, without the cold. Enjoy a walk or jog along the boardwalk, scooter along the rolling hills or enjoy a coffee and a catch-up with a loved one at one of the picnic tables. 

Once you’ve experienced the Indoor Park you’ll be ready for a self-directed workout in the inclusive Fitness Centre or choose from one of our many Drop-In Fitness Classes! From Yoga to Boxing there is something for everyone on our Drop-In Fitness Class Schedule and they are open to all levels. Hoping for some Fitness Centre inspo? Our Personal Trainers are experienced and ready to help you with your fitness routine! Sign up for training sessions or become a member first to enjoy member-only savings on your Personal Training Packages. 

Finish off your visit with a trip to Aquatics! Feel transported to a Nordic-style spa while you enjoy outdoor views from the warmth of our fully accessible sauna, hot tub, lane pool, leisure pool, and steam room. Escape reality and take a little time for self-care, all without leaving the neighbourhood! Come out and experience all that the Vivo Centre has to offer. 

5. Celebrate and Engage at a Special Event

Moving for the Brain and Heart Health in Menopause with University of Calgary’s MOMENTUM 

Event Date: Wednesday, January 29, 2025  

Event Time: 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM  

Location: Vivo’s Indoor Park  

Enjoy discussions on menopause, its symptoms and changes, brain health, and how the MOMENTUM research project aims to understand the relationship between physical activity, menopause, and overall health. Guest Speakers include Dr. Jennifer Reed (Ottawa Heart Institute), Dr. Shafeena Premji (one of the only menopause-certified doctors in Calgary), Dr. Cindy K. Barha, PhD (MOMENTUM Research Initiative)

Satsuki All Culture One Day – Lunar New Year Celebration with Brian Wong’s Fever Sports Media & Education Society
