Collaborating together with the community is something we love at Vivo. We are excited to share this guest post from Brian Wong and Fever Sports in anticipation of the upcoming Satsuki All Culture One Day Lunar New Year Celebration on February 15th, 2025.
Vivo for Healthier Generations has long been a cornerstone of North Calgary, fostering a strong sense of community through recreation, wellness, and cultural events. Among its many partnerships, the collaboration with the Calgary Chinese Merchants Association (CCMA) stands out as a testament to the power of cultural engagement. Together, they have brought vibrant celebrations such as the Lantern Festival and Lunar New Year events to the community, enriching North Calgary’s cultural landscape.
Brian Wong, who was a Board of Director with CCMA, recalls many fond memories from those cultural activities which brought in hundreds of patrons. In 2006, Brian founded FeverSports Media & Education Society and continued to work closely with Vivo in collaborations with Futsal Calgary (also founded by Brian) and Calgary Police Service’s Coffee with A COP in the community.
As a professional broadcaster, Brian first stood on the ground in 2003 when he witnessed the SOD-event as a junior news reporter. He learnt firsthand how the City of Calgary was expanding communities like Panorama Hills, Coventry Hills and Harvest Hills etc. At the time, the much-needed recreation facility has turned many dreams into a reality. Since then, Brian has remained a strong supporter of the centre, recognizing its role in uniting diverse communities.
In recent years, Brian further deepened his involvement by joining the “All-In Campaign” and the “North Calgary Project” as a community advocate and ambassador. In this role, Brian has collaborated with Vivo for Healthier Generations, offering insights on community engagement and helping to enhance the centre’s external outreach.
“North Calgary Project” is a very positive movement that brings values together. The project included many voices from business corporations to residents in the community. It is one of the most comprehensive studies in Calgary’s urban development.
The eye-opening experience sparked Brian’s commitment to Vivo. All Culture One Day Lunar New Year Celebration will add momentum to strengthen unity in community for North Calgary.
Join us February 15th in the Indoor Park from 10:30am – 6pm!
