Mitch Hanen brings a wealth of leadership experience in recreation and community development, with a proven ability to build strong teams, optimize operations, and deliver exceptional member experiences.

Before joining Vivo, Mitch served as Sport Partner Liaison with the City of Edmonton, where he advanced strategic partnerships to create vibrant, accessible, and inclusive recreation opportunities. He also held a senior leadership role with YMCA Calgary as General Manager of the Remington YMCA, overseeing a large, multi-faceted facility serving more than 8,000 members with diverse fitness, aquatics, and community programs.

Mitch is passionate about innovation, collaboration, and fostering community well-being. His leadership philosophy centers on keeping people and community at the heart of every decision.

As Core Business Director, Mitch guides Vivo’s core operations, strengthens organizational systems, and ensures the delivery of high-quality programs and experiences that support healthier generations.
