Welcome Back to the Vivo Pool!

We are excited to start our aquatics programming again so you can enjoy some quality time in the water with your family or learning new skills in our lessons.

We will re-opening and procedures are going to look a bit different than we’re used to. Please review all information below to prepare for your visit. We have some new guidelines we need our guests to follow to keep everyone safe.

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 17: Hot Tubs and Steam Rooms are now included in the Alberta Government’s Phase 2 of the provincial relaunch strategy. For Vivo, this means we will be opening our hot tub!  At this time, our steam room will remain closed due to the size of our steam room. For hot tub protocols and FAQs see the section below.

All drop-in classes and to reserve time in the pool must now be pre-booked on the ‘mywellness’ app.

 

 

Available Amenities

  • Main pool, tots pool, deep end, lanes, lazy river (with current turned off)
  • Closed: Hot Tub, Steam room, Slide, Aquaclimb remain closed until restrictions are lifted by AHS.

Pool Hours of operation:
Monday to Friday: 5:30 AM – 1:00 PM & 4:00 PM – 9:30 PM
Weekends: 7:00 AM – 6:30 PM

Lesson Times:
Monday to Friday: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Weekends: 8:30 AM – Noon

Healthy Habits For The Pool

  • Complete the 3 Step Checklist to access & use Vivo– before your visit, during your visit and after your visit. 
  • Practice physical distancing of 2 metres from all staff and other guests at all times.
  • Masks are mandatory inside. Please keep your face covering on in the change room and on the pool deck. Only remove face masks immediately before entering the pool.
  • Bag/mask storage areas will be available on the pool deck.
  • Leave valuables at home as lockers will not be available during lessons.
  • FOR PUBLIC AND LANE SWIM: Change rooms, showers and lockers will be available but please come ready to swim to minimize traffic in the change rooms
  • Follow all one way and directional signage
  • Follow directional signage on the pool deck and for entrance and exit
  • Swim times are staggered by 30 minutes to allow for full disinfection of high touch points on the pool deck and change rooms.
  • You are encouraged to bring your own equipment, as Vivo will not be providing any pool toys. All equipment must be rinsed before being taken in the pool. Lifejackets, dumbbells and Aquafit belts will be available upon request and sanitized between each use.
  • Follow healthy habits (hand sanitizer will be available at multiple locations around the pool deck for your convenience).
  • Follow all Alberta Health Services guidelines. The rules are posted online and on signage on the pool deck.
  • Goggles are encouraged to avoid mucus contamination. Snorkels are prohibited.
  • Please exit the pool promptly when your booked timeslot is finished to allow us time to disinfect before the next booking. Change rooms must be vacated 15 minutes after the booking end time.
  • UNTIL SEPT.1ST: pools users will use the mid-ramp exit unless they need accessibility access (stroller, walker, wheelchair etc.).
  • Please be respectful to the staff and adhere to our policies. We know a new way of doing things can be stressful at times, but we are here to keep you safe and support you. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Swim Lessons

Vivo offers a wide selection of swimming classes for all ages and abilities – including Red Cross Swim Preschool, Swim Kids and private lessons.

Lessons Protocols:

  • Before your visit complete and follow the Healthy Habits listed on this page.
  • Swimmers and parents/caregivers should maintain physical distancing (two metres apart) with other swimmers and parents/caregivers in the class. 
  • Do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your scheduled time
  • Come changed and ready to swim, as change rooms will not be available before your scheduled time in the pool. 
  • Change rooms and showers will only be available after your pool time, to ensure one-way traffic flow.

What’s New For Lessons?

We have some new guidelines we need our guests to follow in order to keep everyone safe.

  • Swim Preschool, Swim Kids levels 1-4 and Private Lessons are now conducted as parented classes to reduce the risk of virus transmission through physical distancing.  The parent/caregiver becomes accountable for ensuring the child is safe in the water. Caregivers must be 14 years or older.
  • For Swim Kids levels 5-10, caregivers are not required but physical distancing requirements will be in place for participants. Children must pass the swimming pre-screen on the first day to ensure they can safely participate.
  • Class Sizes have been reduced to allow for physical distancing.
  • The instructor will maintain 2 metres of distance at all times and teach mostly from the pool deck.
  • Children of the same household, but not in the swimming lesson, cannot be left unattended on the pool deck while parents and siblings are in lessons.
  • At this time, no spectators are permitted on the pool deck during lessons due to capacity limits
  • Lesson times are staggered by 5 minutes to allow for the disinfection of equipment between classes and to minimize congestion on the pool deck.

Process for Swim Lessons

  • Follow all directional signage
    • Enter through the West entrance and let guest services know you have arrived for lessons.
    • Proceed down the ramp, where the lesson supervisor will check you in and direct you to your waiting zone on the pool deck. You will also be notified of your waiting zone in your First Day of Lessons e-mail reminder. This will be your meeting spot every week for your lessons. Your instructor will come to get you at the start time of your lesson. This will also be the area you can store your bag and face mask.

Public and Lane Swim and Hot Tub

What’s New For Lane & Public Swim?

  • Before your visit complete and follow the Healthy Habits listed above.
  • Download our app to pre-book your public swim time. All public swim spots must be booked in advance. If your group size is unavailable but there are remaining spots in your desired swim time, please call Guest Services at 403-532-1013 to book.
  • Do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your scheduled swim time.
  • Follow all directional signage
    • Enter through the East doors and check-in at the guest services counter
    • Follow one-way directional signage on the pool deck

Lane swim:

    • Before your visit complete and follow the Healthy Habits listed above
    • Lanes must be pre-booked online
    • One guest per lane (or one cohort family with a maximum of 4 people)
    • Swim in the center of the lane to ensure physical distancing

Hot tub: 

    • Before your visit complete and follow the Healthy Habits listed above
    • Hot tub usage must be pre-booked online. Pre-bookings will not be separate, but it is a part of the public swim booking and turns being taken. All pool bookings will still remain in the app.
    • Social distancing – we can open this up to 11 people.
    • Tentative Opening – Saturday, September 19, 2020.

Drop-in Swim Skill Builder
Available Saturdays from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM

Come get swimming tips from a certified instructor at no extra cost! All ages and abilities are welcome! Come work on strokes, that last missing item on a Red Cross report card or receive a level assessment.

HOT TUB FAQs

When is the Hot Tub re-opening?

The mandated closure of hot tubs by AHS has recently been lifted. It will take us 5-7 days to fill, heat, treat and test the hot tub prior to opening. We anticipate the hot tub will be ready to re-open by Saturday, September 19, 2020.

How do I book?

Pre-book on the ‘MyWellness’ app for Public Swim or Lane Swim and you will be able to use the hot tub at any time during your booking as long as space permits.

How many people can use the hot tub at once?

We will have physically distanced areas marked off that can accommodate 11 individuals. Family cohort members may share a space as long as they are maintaining 2m between other patrons.

If my child is in a lesson, can we warm up in the hot tub before and after the lesson?

Yes, the tots’ pool and hot tub will be available for lesson participants during lessons. Capacity limits and distancing guidelines will still need to be followed.

When is the Steam Room re-opening?

At this time the steam room will remain closed due to the size of our steam room.
