Teagan Pennoyer: Camp Lead
Teagan is currently studying for a degree in physical literacy at Mount Royal University and this will be her 4th summer working with Vivo Camps! Fun fact: she attended Vivo (then Cardel Place) Summer Camps as a kid – talk about full circle. Teagan has experience working with a variety of youth sports including skating, rock climbing, and ringette. She also works with an adapted sport organization that works with youth & adults focusing on providing accessible sport to everyone regardless of ability or support need. Teagan joins us as the Camp Lead this year – lending her planning, guidance, and leadership to our larger Camp Team.
What’s one camp tradition you’d never let go of?
“Camp friendship bracelets,” Teagan says without hesitation.
Simple, colourful, and often traded between new friends, friendship bracelets have become one of those small-but-meaningful camp traditions that stick with campers long after camp ends.
“They’re such a great way to connect campers and give them a memorable keepsake to take home.”
Sometimes the smallest traditions create the biggest memories.
What’s a small camper win that’s stayed with you?
For Teagan, it’s seeing nervous campers find the confidence to try something new — especially on the climbing wall.
“One of the most rewarding moments is seeing a camper get on the climbing wall after being nervous to try it.”
That experience feels especially meaningful because it’s personal.
“I used to have a huge fear of heights, but climbing helped me overcome that. Being able to show campers that climbing is fun and that they’re safe is really rewarding.”
Those moments of courage – even the quiet ones – can make a lasting impact.
If you were a camper today, what would you be the pro at?
“Swimming,” Teagan says immediately. “And I’d definitely be doing lots of cannonballs.”
But there’s one activity she’d probably try to quietly disappear from before it started.
“Secretly, I’d try to hide during dodgeball.”
Honestly? Relatable.
Whether she’s helping campers build confidence on the climbing wall or making friendship bracelets alongside them, Teagan is helping create the kind of camp experience where kids feel connected, supported, and excited to try something new.
