Important Update

In order to facilitate the remainder of the expansion project, major internal renovations, and to prepare for re-opening in early 2023, Vivo has modifying its offerings.

Read Public Health Measures in Effect at Vivo

Your health and safety are our highest priority! As such Vivo’s masking requirements and capabilities will remain in effect until further notice.

Continue healthy habits such as:

  • stay at home if you’re sick or feeling sick
  • practice social distancing and healthy hygiene habits like handwashing and sanitizing

Note– Vivo employees have the right to invoke our Zero Tolerance Policy and ask you to leave the centre immediately or suspend your access to facility areas, programs, and services for demonstrating poor behaviours or not following policies and protocols that have been put into place.

What’s Open for Summer:

A few important notices:

We are continuously reviewing local and provincial health measures to keep our community safe. The expectations outlined in our policies could change at any time based on the expansion or the evolving COVID-19 situation.

Rentals, Bookings & Events

Room capacities will remain reduced to 1/3 or less to ensure proper 2m distancing.

It is the responsibility of Sports Groups to ensure the masking expectations as determined by their governing sports body AND Vivo are being followed at all times. Sports Groups that are not involved in high-intensity training must remain masked. If the group is on a break between high-intensity intervals, resting or stretching, masking and social distancing are required.

Guardians & Chaperons

Due to expansion and public measures in place from the City of Calgary and Alberta Government, Vivo is operating at 1/3 capacity and you must follow the rules below:

  • Ages 12 and under – Up to 1 guardian is permitted per athlete/participant to support with equipment, safety and other logistics as required by the program or sports organization.
  • Ages 13-17 years – guardians will be permitted to act as chaperones for the sports organization which must ensure capacities are met at all times.
  • Parents with questions about hockey or figure skating are asked to work directly with the sports organization.

Dryland Activities – Climbing & Gymnasiums

  • Due to the location of the climbing wall during construction and renovation, the climbing wall will re-open once construction and renovations are completed and Vivo fully reopens in 2023.
  • During this time, refinishing the gymnasium floors, painting and maintaining a safe environment while the building is a construction zone is the main priority. Activities like badminton, basketball, volleyball, ping pong, and pickleball will not be available for drop-in; however, may be available on a limited basis for individual rentals.  Please email for availability.

Group Fitness & Fitness Centre

  • Over the last number of months, we have assessed multiple of scenarios to try to keep as much open to the public but the reality of operating a business under construction and during a pandemic has proven very challenging.
  • During this time, completing the extensive construction and internal renovations while maintaining a safe environment is the main priority.
  • Old equipment will be sold off and new equipment will be purchased for a much-improved fitness experience.
  • We want to ensure that the current building matches the quality of the expanded areas, and this will be a major undertaking to refinish the gymnasium floors, paint existing areas, refurbish the universal, men’s and women’s changerooms and update interior finishes.
  • The Expansion will feature a fitness centre that is 60% larger than the former fitness centre and will feature 3 boutique-style studios for mind-body classes, spin, and HITT-style classes.

  • Extensive renovations will take place to the aquatics area including re-tiling the pool deck and re-grouting the pool, updating the pool mechanical systems, implementing an improved anti-entrapment safety system, and overhauling the universal, men’s and women’s changerooms
  • We will be adding a fully accessible 25m 6-lane pool, sauna, and steam room to simulate a “lakeside” experience to be enjoyed by all ages and abilities.

Registered Programs

  • Summer Camps will be available in 2022, with registration opening on February 1st, 2022.
  • Skating Lessons are continuing in 2022 with registration for summer programs season starting on February 1st, 2022.
