Zumba is a high-energy group fitness class inspired by Latin dance that can burn upwards of 500 calories in a one-hour session! The word “Zumba” comes from a Colombian word that means to move fast and have fun, which is just how people describe the routine. Using upbeat Latin music together with cardiovascular exercise, Zumba is an optimal fitness choice, mixing cardio intervals with resistance training. Zumba mixes effective body sculpting movements with easy-to-follow, fun dance steps, incorporating several dance styles, including cumbia, merengue, salsa, reggaeton, mambo, rumba, flamenco, and calypso and Salsaton. The Latin music includes both fast and slow rhythms, allowing for a great cardio workout as well as body sculpting exercises. Depending on the instructor, you may even get a taste of belly dancing or hip-hop, too.

Each of our yoga classes includes a professional instructor who will work with you to ensure your movements are safe and effective. Whether you want to increase your flexibility or focus your mind (or both!), our classes have something for everyone.

Hatha Yoga

Mondays @ 6:30 PM
Thursdays @ 9:30 AM
Saturdays @ 12:00 PM

Hatha yoga is primarily concerned with mastery of the body, and it is arguably the tradition most familiar to Western culture. The term is derived from the Sanskrit “ha” (sun), and “tha” (moon), and is designed to unite and balance these two energies. Together, the literal translation of Hatha is “force,” alluding to the physical techniques used within this tradition. Hatha yoga is generally practiced more slowly and with more static posture holds than found in styles such as Ashtanga or Vinyasa.

Flow and Restore Yoga

Location: Play Lab

During the first half of your class your instructor is going to guide you through a slow paced gentle flow to warm the body up and de-stress. The second half of the class is deeply relaxing, without any muscle engagement. The support of props is going to help to loosen up the body and melt away tension in both body and mind. Feel at ease and relaxed before heading off to sleep!

Ashtanga Yoga

Schedule TBD

From the Sanskrit “Ashta” (number eight) and “Anga” (limb or body part), Ashtanga is the union of the eight limbs of yoga into one complete, holistic system. The eight limbs of yoga are Yama (moral codes), Niyama (self-discipline), Asana (posture), Pranayama (breath control), Pratyahara (sense withdrawal), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation), and Samadhi (oneness with the self). Ashtanga is a very dynamic and athletic form of hatha yoga, made up of six series or levels, with a fixed order of postures. It is rooted in vinyasa, the flowing movements between postures, with a focus on energy and breath. While it is a very physical practice, it also promotes mental clarity and inner peace
