Role:

Your role will begin with an extensive, hands on training week to understand and uphold the values, expectations and customer service standards of Vivo. As a Vivo Summer Camp Instructor you will be responsible for performing the day-to day instruction and delivery of full day summer camps for children age 3-5, 5-8 or 9-12 years old. A typical day will include facilitating sports activities and spontaneous play in multiple environments including the gymnasium, pool, rock climbing wall, Play Hub, and the surrounding neighbourhood. You will create and connect with our customers, community and fellow employees in ways that are impactful in driving and advancing our cause.  You’ll engage with passion and be accountable to Vivo customer’s and the Vivo camps team to deliver strong results and impact of our camp vision: Play + Explore + Connect.

Qualifications:


 Day in the Life of an Active Explorer Summer Camp instructor:

This is a full day camp from ages 5-8 or 9-12. Your day will begin with signing children into camps and ensuring that all paperwork is properly completed. You will then instruct the participants with the assistance of your volunteer(s) in sport activities both on and off-site. On site could be in the gym, pools, rock climbing, and Play Hub. When you go off-site you would find areas around the surrounding neighbourhood to play different sports at. This could be a new soccer field to play on, a basketball court in the community, or a tennis court. At the end of the day you will wait for the parents/guardians to sign the child out of camp. You will be responsible once a week for calling and connecting with parents whose child is enrolled in camps the following week to address any questions or concerns they may have. Once a week you will also be responsible for instructing before camp care and after camp care.

Day in the Life of a Nature Explorer Summer Camp Instructor

This is a full day camp for ages 5-8 or 9-12. Your day will begin with signing children into camp. You will then set sail as a group to explore the surrounding community. You will work in collaboration with any special guests that we have brought in and learn about pollination, plants, flowers, wetlands, worm composts etc. You will also get to set up camp in a community teaching the kids how to set up camp, tie knots, put a tarp up, and hang bags away from predators. During your week you will also get the opportunity to visit and learn about the Pollinator Corridor, as well as help maintain the community garden. Your day will commence back at Vivo in time for pick up. Once a week you will be responsible for calling parents who have children in camp the following week and addressing any concerns or questions that they might have. Once a week you will also be responsible for instructing the before camp care and after camp care.

Day in the Life of a Play Your Way Summer Camp Instructor

This camp is a half day camp for ages 3-5 or 6-9. You will be responsible for running both. Your day will begin signing children into camp. You will then explore and play in all the facilities that Vivo has to offer including swimming, rock climbing, gym experiences, the Play Hub, the library, the ramp, and surrounding fields. You will be an expert of Vivo experiences and modify the activities to keep them innovative and exciting for every camp experience. Your day will commence on time for sign out. Once a week you will be responsible for contacting parents who have children in the camp the following week and addressing any concerns or questions that they may have. At least once a week you will also be responsible for instructing after camp care and before camp care.

Day in the Life of a Creative Explorer Summer Camp Instructor

This full day camp is full of possibilities! Your day will begin with signing the children into camp. You will then work on multiple art projects throughout the day. These include daily, weekly, and summer long creations. Examples of art projects that you may complete over your course of instructing are building and decorating the Summer Camp Club House out of cardboard and materials, going out into nature and drawing landscape pictures, doing body painting in the play hub, drawing self-portraits, creating murals out in the community, and other exciting and unique art experiences. Your days will be both on and off-site. On site could be anywhere in and around Vivo. Off-site locations include safely travelling into surrounding communities and creating art there. Your day will commence on time to sign the child out of camp. Once a week you will be required to contact parents who have children enrolled in the following week of camps and address any questions or concerns that they may have. You will also be responsible for leading before camp care and after camp care at least once a week.

Day in the Life of a Neighbourhood Explorer.

This camp is for ages 9-12 only. Your day will begin at Vivo signing the children into camps. You will then set sail to explore the surrounding neighbourhoods and its play hubs, facilities, and natural components. By the end of the week the children in your summer camps should come away knowing the surrounding communities, how to navigate within them, and how to safely explore communities. You will be learning street safety walking and wheeling through the community. You will get to connect with the community and engage in community service acts like maintaining the food bank garden or visiting the senior's home. Your day will commence at Vivo on time to sign the children out of camp. Once a week you will be required to contact parents who have children enrolled in the following week of camps to address any concerns or questions that they might have. You will also be required to instruct before camp care and after camp care at least once a week.
