Vivo is on a mission to raise healthier generations in Calgary and beyond and seeks community minded and cause-driven individuals to join the board of directors. A successful candidate will join our effort to help Canadians of all generations enjoy healthier lives. Vivo is a charitable* enterprise providing evidence-based solutions to the national challenge of physical inactivity and sedentary behavior. Vivo also governs an $8 million dollar regional recreation facility with $12.9 million dollars in assets. In order to make play more accessible and expand the service capacity of the physical asset, we are currently on a capital campaign to raise $60 million dollars. In the next three years, we are undertaking an Expansion Project that increases the existing facility by approximately 50% and includes innovative spaces such as an indoor park and courtyard to be open to the public or programming, expanded aquatic and fitness facilities, new and renovated change areas as well as specialized program space.
The Board is accountable to Vivo’s stakeholders, which includes the citizens and community of north-central Calgary, as well as the City of Calgary. The Board endeavors to ensure the long-term health of the physical assets by providing financial, operational, and planning oversight, and advances (through both advocacy and involvement) the cause with a strategic perspective, fund development, and community insight.
Vivo has three vacancies on our volunteer Board of Directors and invites applications from qualified individuals who can complement our current board in one or more of the following proficiencies:

- Health & Wellness
Ideal candidates are experienced business leaders or leaders in the not-for-profit sector with passion and capacity to advance Vivo’s cause.
Upon selection to the board, new directors commit to a minimum two-year term that requires approximately ten hours of work time per month. The expectations for Directors are attached to this posting.
